Allergies, reactions to dyes and food products and an increase in such conditions as Autism and Asthma have produced an entirely fresh view of frequently used products and how we use them. Even the most popular food for school lunches, the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, has been closely examined due to the fact that so many children are allergic to peanuts and can have a violent reaction after ingesting it. It is no wonder then that people are seeking alternatives to anything that is filled with additives and chemicals that can harm them and opting instead for natural and simple ingredients. Hair care products, such as shampoo and conditioner promote the fact that it is created from all natural ingredients. Cosmetic products such as mineral foundation and mineral make up boast of all natural ingredients to guarantee the purchaser that she is buying a product that will be quite mild to her skin. Many soaps and lotions are publicized as unscented so as not to irritate sensitive skin.
But perhaps the largest amount of attention to natural foods is now being focused on the food we eat. Organic food has taken a huge portion of the market share and even the most average of consumers is conscious of the benefits of consuming locally grown fruits and vegetables. Many folks believe there are solid advantages in knowing that the food they are eating has been grown and nurtured without being subjected to chemicals and pesticides. Farmers Markets have sprung up all over the country where local farmers display their produce and can attest to the fact that their offerings are clean and from the surrounding area. Grocery stores have also devoted special sections to numerous kinds of food products that are currently being requested:
• Gluten-free products: Many people are now {finding that they are allergic to wheat and flour and have to rely discovering that they cannot tolerate wheat and flour and have to depend on gluten-free products in order to protect their digestive tract from causing them pain from inflammation. There is currently a large amount of attention from consumers who are anxious to try these gluten-free foods to either treat a diagnosed disease or to see if it helps to alleviate some of their symptoms.
• Antibiotic and steroid free meats: In recent years, there has been quite an interest in purchasing eggs, dairy products and meats that are antibiotic and steroid free. It is thought that the administration of these medicines to animals causes them to pass it on to humans who are then digesting them. Because of the huge quantities that are given to animals because of their size we do not know how much or exactly what kind of medicines we are ingesting and they are thought to be harmful.
• Natural herbs: Fresh herbs have become extremely popular not only for the amazing flavors they have but also for their healing and aromatic properties. Herb gardens have sprung up all over and the private gardener takes delight in the beautiful yield a herb garden produces with very little effort. At many farmers markets herbs and spices can be purchased in very small amounts to ensure that the herb or spice will not lose its flavor or aroma before you have a chance to use all of it.
