How can I lose belly fat? is a question thousands of people ask every month and there is no quick answer. Belly fat accumulates over a period and by the time you really notice it the belly fat has taken up residence with, it seems squatters rights.

The road to a firmer, flatter stomach is a fairly long one and no amount of crunches, sit ups or body pulls is going to make the belly fat disappear overnight. With just a little bit of effort and the right sort of diet you can succeed at losing the belly fat.

How do I get rid of the belly? is a good question to ask because the flab you can see is only part of the problem, it is the underlying fat around your inner organs that can be the most life threatening. It is this fat that will cause diabetes, heart congestion and kidney problems to name but a few.

So, how do you get rid of the flab? The best way is to accept it will take time. Do not rush into a crash diet as this is the worst thing you can do. A sudden reduction in your calorie intake will only result in a downturn in your metabolic rate and a surge in fat storage by your body.

A fat belly and those muffin tops will respond very well to a sensible eating plan and a fair bit of aerobic exercise. There are plenty of good weight loss programs on the Internet and by carefully choosing one that suits you and your lifestyle you have a great chance of fighting the bulge.

Aerobic exercise comes in many forms none of which require a leotard! Aerobic merely means “with air” That is, you breathe normally whilst you exercise. The simplest form of aerobic exercise is a brisk walk.

My personal preference for an aerobic workout is forty minutes a day on a cheap motorized treadmill. I have purchased a treadmill and installed it in my garage along with a music system and a TV, just to take my mind off the process.

A home treadmill works for me because I don’t have to travel to a gym, make arrangements for child care and it never rains in my garage. Not yet anyway!

The convenience is my safeguard against making up excuses not to do it. With a diet program I purchased off the ‘Net and regular workouts on my treadmill I have lost the muffin tops and reduced my belly fat significantly and in a fairly short time.

Okay, how do I lose belly fat? By eating sensibly, exercising regularly and not making up excuses. It is not that hard if you really decide to lose that flab.
